Expressions in Woodturning
A Central Coast Woodturners Exhibition

at the Morro Bay Art Gallery

August 8, 2023 until September 18, 2023

The CCW will be sponsoring a woodturning show under the auspices of the Morro Bay Art Association at their gallery on 835 Main Street in Morro Bay. This exhibit will be limited to the exclusive use of the floor space throughout both galleries. This exhibit is open to all CCW Woodturners or artists who work primarily with wood.

Submissions

  • Opening date for submissions is March 1, 2023.
  • Closing date for submissions is June 1, 2023.
  • Send submissions to: CCWjuriedshow2023@gmail.com.
  • File format must be JPG, at least 300 dpi, not to exceed 8 MB.
  • Each photo-filename should include title and dimensions.
  • Each entry should have an image of its top, bottom and/or side to enable the Judge to fairly evaluate it.
  • It is to the artist’s advantage to submit high quality images.
  • Each image must represent the artwork to be exhibited only.
  • All artwork submitted must be the work of the artist; artwork produced in a  workshop or collaboration is not allowed.

Entry Fees and Instructions

  • Artists may submit up to (5) entries.
  • An entry fee of $15 for one submission and $10 for each additional submission.
  • Fees must be paid by check or money order, payable to the CCW. No cash.
  • Entry fees are non-refundable.

  • Entry deadline is June 1, 2023, midnight.
  • All entries must be available for sale.

Method of Selection

  • Our juror, James Santhon, a professional woodturner for more than 50 years, a member of the American Association of Woodturners and a professional woodturning demonstrator, will make the selections from the digital submissions.
  • Juror selections will be announced by email and posted on the CCW’s web site on or about July 1, 2023.

Delivery of Turnings

  • Chosen entries must include an asking price upon submission.

On August 9, 2023, 12 pm – 2 pm.

  • Selected entries not delivered on time will not be accepted into the exhibit.
  • Please submit an Artist’s Statement for inclusion into the exhibit binder indicating title and retail cost at the time of take-in.

Sales

  • All artworks must be for sale.
  • A 25% commission will be retained by the Morro Bay Art Association.
  • Please price your work accordingly. There will be no price changes after acceptance.
  • MBAA will process all sales, including sales tax.
  • Payment to the artist for work sold will be made within approximately 30 days.
  • The names and addresses of buyers will be provided on request of the artist and permission of the buyer.

Exhibition Schedule

  • Exhibition hours: 12 pm to 4 pm daily
  • August 9, 2023, exhibition will be installed
  • August 10, 2023, exhibition opens at 12 noon
  • August 13, 2023, Reception from 2 pm to 4 pm for all interested parties.
  • September 18, 2023, Exhibition end at 4 pm
  • September 19, 2023, unsold artwork must be retrieved between 10 am to 2 pm

Retrieving Artwork

  • Unsold artwork must be picked up on September 19, 10am to 2pm. If someone else is picking up your work, they need to have written permission from you to do so and we will require a signed copy.
